I would think that some people choose black to HIDE the leaks…. Like the factory obviously wanted to do? LOL. Gloss black is by far the worst/best for this… which I instantly regretted after trying to pinpoint a leak. Determining the leak is “everywhere” seemed to be correct at the time. Mine are always just rustoleum gray (boring) but the benefit is it is easy to see oil leaks, see what you are working on in poor light, etc. any of the colors you suggest would be way better than black for this purpose.
