<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto"><div dir="ltr"></div><div dir="ltr">Speaking from my experience when I used to make custom silicone valve cover gaskets for the stock covers…</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr"><img src="cid:6040A779-B379-42BD-A869-94845956A28F" width="256.6666666666667" alt="image"></div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">If I had an alloy cover and a flat silicone gasket… I would clean the cover mating surface and glue the gasket to the cover with a generous bead … and either set it on a very flat surface or on the engine… and either put a couple pounds of weight on top of it or screw the cover down a tad.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">You can clean up any initial squeeze out with Q-tips.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Let the silicone cure 24 hours. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Then just bolt down to your preferred torque.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">this serves two purposes….</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">1. It will help the gasket resist popping out from heat expansion or from pressure..</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">2. It will make it very reusable by only attaching itself to the cover and easier to replace as remnants of an old silicone can be removed on a bench rather than scraping the head.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">This all said….
