They need a good cleaning and coat of paint. They would be much more robust than the wire wheels and still keep to the authentic look of the times. I think he runs 5" rims, 60 and 72 spoke and they are always breaking spokes. He always runs the skinny vintage Dunlops or Hoosier Vintage TDs too. He also drives at a less aggressive pace, usually 3/4 pack. I've lapped him a couple different times in my TR3. </span>

<span style="font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt;">The wires have a .090" runout spec as acceptable. I think I got that spec from Moss Motors. That's a lot. So don't expect them ever to be vibration free. They do look awesome and of course period correct, but to me, the continuous maintenance is not worth the cost and effort.</span>

<p class="MsoNormal">The ONLY tire I would think of using with wire wheels, and ONLY the 72 spoke Daytons with the heavy spokes, would be the old style, skinny vintage Dunlop bias plys. Modern, uber sticky radia race rubber like the Hoosier Speedsters is a recipe for trouble. None of the front running TRs that I know of are running wire wheels. There are very good reasons for this.</p>
