You're absolutely correct on the trans gearing. Down the straight I was at 7000+ RPM in 5th, and only doing about 115. It is a BL 5 speed from the Huffaker TR8 and this track showed how wrong it is.

The original trans for the car is a Spitfire 4 speed, but it was built without a reverse (the reverse gear pin would sheer off all the time). Over the winter, Joe Carr (the original Huffaker mechanic for the car) has committed to engineer the trans to get a working reverse. The 4 speed gearing should work better with the rear end. You may have noticed, that I didn't drop into second gear when needed as well. Shifting down to second was nearly impossible about half the time. We just can't get parts to make things right. Of course a dog box would solve the problems, but I'm trying to keep the car original. Cheers.

While I'm only a handful of race weekends into my vintage racing, this track is my new favorite. Sure would be special to hold a Kastner Cup there some day.
