In fact, one of my brothers has a great memory of sharing a moment with her, having words as he boarded an airplane in New York and they were both in first class. I think the point of sharing my story was that the slightest hint of rudeness by a celebrity can breed a memorable, hurtful memory in a fan. Such a slight from a stranger would be shrugged off and probably quickly forgotten. With celebrities, it’s different. </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">On one hand, it seems unfair to the celebrities, but it is one of the costs of being a celebrity. Some take it in stride and learn how to make everyone feel touched. Think of Bill Clinton here. He’s known to work a room and make everyone feel personally acknowledged. (I’m not speaking as a fan of the Clintons, but it is a fact about his nature that probably played a big part in his becoming a governor and POTUS.)</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">I worked on a commercial with Anthony Michael Hall a few years ago. My god, he went out of his way to make each crew member feel like they were the stars. I know he’s not a superstar, but he’s still a celebrity. He could have approached the crew with a 180 degree attitude! </div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">They can choose to act like spoiled children or they can recognize that many people they have never met may feel a connection to them as if they had met. I think those that embrace this live happier lives than those that yell obscenities or punch paparazzi in the face or their cameras for the slightest effort to get a picture or that grimace and turn away when recognized in public, etc.</div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">I met Kastner in person at a Triumphest. My TR4A was the most beat up and unrestored looking Triumph at the event. (I had only restored it mechanically, it had no top, no carpet, etc., and it roared with nothing but glass-packs!) Word got to me that it was his favorite car of the day. I’m sure he knew it would. Another case of a celebrity that appreciates the responsibility that comes with his celebrity rather than taking it like a bitter pill. <div>He’s an absolute gentleman in my experience and is one of those guys that makes time when he has it, but every minute the man has when he is in public is scheduled and paid for, especially at events where he is representing his long standing sponsors and

Suddenly she’s right there in front of me, and i was thrilled with the opportunity have a few words with her. I introduced myself by explaining my mom was also exhibiting in the show, but that she had just passed away, and I started to mention my connection
to the film buiz, when I realized she wasn’t paying attention to a word I was saying. She was rubber necking around me, looking at everyone but me. She totally blew me off. </div>

<div dir="ltr">Every time I see her on one of her TV commercials, I feel a little ill. The way she put me off when I was still mourning the sudden loss of my mother just burned a hole in my psyche that I can’t shake. When I think how all she had to do was
be polite and share a sentence or two with this young man, that had just lost his mother, to bring a little sunshine back to his soul, just kills me. </div>

<div dir="ltr">Many celebrities have no idea the impact they have when they’re rude. Some do get it. I remember Angie Dickinson, early in my career arriving on a set, no handlers, no entourage, no demands, dressed rather frumpy, just walking up to craft
service and grabbing a morning snack, and greeting me (at that time a carpenter) like any other crew member, as an equal. That small gesture made her one of my most favorite celebrities in terms of those that I had contact with. She’s second only to Meg
Ryan. I had picked up some prop from Paramount Studios and happened to walk passed her trailer. The door was open and we caught eyes. And she gave me the sweetest “come hither” smile I’d ever seen from an attractive young woman yet alone a movie star. That
one smile, instead of a What-the-fuck-are-you-looking at? grimace, and she could do no wrong in my eyes for the rest of my life! </div>

A couple years ago, at the Rolex Reunion, Jackie Stewart was walking by in front of my TR3 with another person and said something like, this is a Triumph TR3, very good car, my brother had one of these. I motioned to come closer to have a look, he waved and
shook his head no and walked away. He totally blew me off. </div>
