<p>Five years ago at the Indy Brickyard Invitational (I sent them a
check for $795 and they invited me!) I had the distinct pleasure
of buying lunch for her and a friend of mine who knew her. What a
gracious intelligent humorous and wonderful person she was. We had
a great chat and then she said sorry guys I have to go do an
interview. <br>

from Watkins Glen. In 1964, The Glen held the first annual
Glen 500 (500 Kilometers), race for A, B, C and D production
cars. I was working for the local radio station (WCLI), so I
was able to get a "restricted" pit pass. Because I was under
18, I couldn't get full access to the pits, but I was able to
get close enough that I could sneak in without being noticed.
Unfortunately, my Driver's Ed teacher at the time was working
on the pit crew in one of the pits I walked right past. He
said "you're not supposed to be here".</div>

the race, his car pulled into the pits unexpectedly. It was a
blue XK120 (or 140?). My teacher went up to the driver, who
said something. He then threw his arms up in the air, said
something back to the driver, and sent the car on its way.
When he came back, I asked him what that was all about. He
said, "she said I have no oil pressure, at which I responded,
that gauge hasn't worked all day!"</div>

USGP in the late 60's. It was kind of a cluster
situation and when all was said and done they had put
the flat tire back on! A photographer pointed it out
to the team.</p>
