<div>When I think of Syd Silverman, I remember a quiet, Guardian Angel of early vintage racing (late 1970s/early 1980s). I am personally aware of several times when an event or affair was experiencing a revenue shortfall, Syd would step forward with his pen and check book and pick up the pieces. And he did so quietly. He was one of the most unpretentious people I ever met. The other things I remember were the incredible cars he brought to events to race. Stuff you normally only saw in pictures or behind velvet ropes in a museum. He raced them. Mike Silverman told me that when his Dad finally sold his collection, every penny went to charity.</div>
