Of course, you must have a light on the dash next to the tach, to tell you if OD is engaged,in case there is a brain fade & one can’t remember what gear they should be in for the next turn . Maybe that’s why some of our group can’t remember what gear they
are in! ( this includes me)<br>

used a standard electrical control scheme called "Three wire control" to engage the OD relay but drop it out when the shifter switch opened. To re-engage overdrive a pushbutton would activate the relay and latch itself in so the pushbutton was just momentary.
