<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto"><div>Hi all</div><div><br></div><div>The issue for me with my rally TR4 is reliability in a variety of temperature and stress conditions, across the full rev range and with all the non engine tortional loadings that occur through whiplash in the drivetrain caused by really pushing hard. </div><div><br></div><div>I had the same set of carillos in BST82B for about 5 years before I bent one through a valve failure so they are not infallible by any means but in those 5 years they did a HUGE amount of work at big revs with the engine running from 2500 rpm all the way through to about 8000rpm ALL day and sometimes ALL night. </div><div><br></div><div> I have literally revved that engine out of orbit in the most horrible conditions and failures are so rare. With about 140,000 rally miles done so far in the car as a package the engine is the most reliable element of the whole deal and thats because it's got a load of expensive bits in it that are designed to be pushed hard, together with scheduled pull outs and maintenance and the help of some clever people when I need it. </div><div><br></div><div>I don't think there is much better out there that I can get my hands on at non millionaire money. to a Pauter rep., the main reason they started manufacturing their own rods in the first place was due to the fact that the H beam and I beam rods they were using couldn’t put up with what they were throwing at them with their turbo charged 4cylinder engines.

<p>I saw the pictures of Pauter.<br>
This type has no material were it needs and too much were it doesn't make sense. Maybe for very short rods usable.
