Chuck McGuire was a vintage racer before there was such a thing. He attended SCCA driver school in 1964 and started racing right away, taking a TR3A to the track with a Plymouth station wagon with the family and a trailer en tow. He has raced famous Ghost Tracks like Greenwood Roadway and even has a few trophies and podium finishes at various tracks around the USA. He was the winner of the Badger 200 at Road America in 1967? (I have seen the undated trophy) (Any info on this would be appreciated). Budget and family cut his racing career
short, as it has done to others time and time again. </div><div id="yiv7507721788yui_3_7_2_56_1378940151753_39"><br></div><div id="yiv7507721788yui_3_7_2_56_1378940151753_39">Chuck lives right up the street from me where he has built 6 TR3As ranging from 1957-1960. All of his children now own one, including an award winning 1960 TR3A that he shipped to Australia for his daughter Denise as well as a room full of car show awards. He is an absolute genius with Triumphs, earning him the name "Mr.Triumph" by his peers. I had a wonderful opportunity to spend the duration of the Kastner Cup weekend festivities with him and his lovely wife Charlotte. He has helped me numerous times with my Spitfire (making me do the work with his guidance) and also the Drive Away Cancer Iowa TR4A. I accredit the many miles I have put on both cars to his expertise. I was very surprised by the amount of people this weekend who knew him or of him. He is the epitome of a
Friend of Triumph. An absolute gentleman racer until his last breath. He has been featured in magazines and newsletters throughout his years. He has never strayed from his love for TR3s. He is a senior member of our local British Car Club and is always there to help. He is a retired Des Moines Fire Dept mechanic, EMT, and fire fighter. </div><div id="yiv7507721788yui_3_7_2_56_1378940151753_39"><br></div><div id="yiv7507721788yui_3_7_2_56_1378940151753_39">We could all learn something from gentleman like him, and I am proud to say that I have.
