Jamie,
Great to hear from you. I am familiar with your car having checked out
your cage in Pittsboro last year. I recall you were running Lucy Dog
Racing. I cannot speak to the conversion, but fuel injection is permitted
though not sure if it requires original equipment from "the day".
So, I joined FOT and VDCA in 2024, have had a great time with the FOT
members picking their brains. I highly recommend you try to visit VIR
during the VDCA VIR WIld Hare Run, Fri-Sun, March 27-29. There, you can
meet some of the FOT members and see their cars.

FOT members Chuck Gee, Henry Frye, Tony Drew, Phil Gott, Mark Wheatly, and
Allen Goode are registered running their Triumph TR3s and 4s, mostly in
Group 3 and a few others in Group 1 with Spitfires. There are no Triumphs
this year in Group 8, which is what I ran in last year running against some
Mustangs. I cannot make it this year and had to cancel my registration.
But, I had a ball last year. I am considering running in SVRA in September,
but VDCA is also running at CMP this year in September - not to far from
Pittsboro.
My TR6 is stored at VIR, so let me know if you would like to see it for
ideas as well.
I suspect your car will likely run in Group 8 for VDCA (and SVRA) depending
on the modifications, possibly Group 3 if it is taken back to twin
SUs/Strombergs. VDCA bases their classes and rules generally on SVRA
groups. Though VDCA references SCCA vintage rules as well. My car has
triple webers which kick it into Group 8 regardless.
Below are some links as well as the SVRA specs for TR5-250-6 cars.
Call me anytime and would be glad to share my experience. I will send you
a text separately.

Tires: I have been running Hoosier HOTDR 24x7 tires. These are basically
the same compound at Hoosier R7s, but fully treaded as the prior SVRA and
VDCA rules required. This year, the tire rules for Group 8 have been
modified to allow Hoosier R7 and Race R8s as well as Toyo RR (now R). In
addition to those tires, ."Any Treaded, DOT approved Tires with a UTQG of
100 or greater with appropriate Speed Rating and a minimum Aspect Ratio of
45" are permitted
