I had installed a "dummy" voltage regulator, planning to switch to an alternator, and forgot to change the regulator back when I went back to my generator (they all look the same on the outside).  I switched the voltage regulators and my problem went away.  Sorry to bother you.

My 1960 TR-3A was shipped from the factory with the battery positive terminal as the ground.  When I restored the car many years ago, I switched it over to negative ground.  Someone had given me some instructions that I followed, and it seemed to work.  About 2 years ago, I replaced the battery and suspecting a charging problem, I also changed the generator and voltage regulator.  Since then, whenever I took the car on a long drive for a few days, the battery would run down.  I took my generator to an old electrical shop and he tested it on a bench test and said it was charging just fine.
I can't remember if I had polarized the new generator and voltage regulator when I replaced them.  So, I polarized them again, using some instructions I got from the Roadster Factory.  Now the ignition switch and amp gauge are backwards.  When the key is in the off position, the ignition light comes on and the engine will start and run.  When the key is in the on position, there is nothing.  When I started the engine, the amp gauge went negative.
Anyone have any idea what I could have done to get this switched around?  And, therefore, what I need to do to switch it back?
Thanks for your help.
