In the GT6, I do not hit redline in 4th on the front straight with a 3.89, and no-name straight is much shorter. Not sure how that compares for your car - the engine does run to 7,300 RPM, but I also only have 13? wheels. For me, with a close ratio TR6 box, it?s mostly a third gear track except on the front straight. Several of our guys with a lot more laps at Lime Rock than I do have chimed in, thanks everyone for your input. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's my input. https://youtu.be/xIg5KQwM-pw I clipped a lap from my in-car camera from the 2024 Lime Rock Vintage Festival. My tach is plainly visible and I added captions on what I am doing with the gearbox. The lap shown is somewhere in the mid-1.05's. The camera is one of those Go-Pro knockoffs, so the quality is junk, but it got the job done. The sound was cut, if you heard what the camera records for sound you would thank me! The gearing I use in the TR250 is a 4:10 R&P, a Triumph gearbox with close ratio gears, a stock Laycock overdrive and I am running on Hoosier Speedsters with a diameter of 24.2 inches. My shift point is 6000. This example should be easy to reference against your race car assuming you are familiar with high school math! This is the same as I used in my old TR4 racer and the TR3, except my 4-cylinder racers use a Moldex crank, Carillos and a cam that ran to 7000. With the additional revs afforded by the billet bottom end, I don't need the overdrive to enhance the top end. Again, it's all in the math. My line through Big Bend and the Uphill are not optimal, but that is a conversation for another time. Watch the tack twitch as I crest the Uphill, you know you did OK when you get a little wheelspin there! Hope this helps. If we get another 10 cars or so, we will be looking to move some of the slowest and/or fastest cars to appropriate groups. The only caveat is cars running on slicks. If someone has no other option or insists on running slicks, they will be the first to get moved to the big bore group for all races leading up to the Kastner Cup race, but we all run together for the Cup on Monday after lunch. One visionary carmaker to exploit their unique marketing value was Enzo Ferrari, who launched his eponymous firm in 1947 with a 1.5-liter V12 designed by engineer Gioacchino Colombo. Though Ferrari has since employed other engine configurations, Ferrari's legacy is inseparable from that initial powertrain selection, which will be celebrated at this year's Historic Festival Concours with a curated selection of classic 12-cylinder Ferrari coupes. For Ferrari restorer Tom Yang, the enduring appeal of the Ferrari V12 comes from its characteristic mechanical music: "Not many other cars sound like that," he says. "Ripping canvas, howl and scream, whatever you want to call it, you know right away it's a Ferrari. Of course, the cars are beautiful inside out, but the fact they sound great really sets them apart." One of the featured cars at this year's Concours will be a rare 250 Short Wheelbase (SWB). One of Ferrari's most celebrated road and racing cars, the SWB was designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti. Its name derives from its 2,400 mm wheelbase, whose improved handling and agility propelled it to GT racing dominance ahead of the 250 GTO. The SWB was first shown in the US when Luigi Chinetti Sr. selected it for display at the 1960 New York Auto Show. At the other extreme of Ferrari V12s on display will be an 812 Superfast. Producing just under 800 hp from its 6.5L V12, it's capable of a top speed of 211 mph with 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated production car engine at the time of its launch in 2017. Other 12-cylinder Ferraris planned for display include a Daytona, a 330 GTC, and a 550 Maranello, with others expected. Join us for this very special exhibition. Eventually it got pinched. The system I installed was an ATL cell in the trunk, with a duckfoot pickup in each back corner, two Holley red fuel pumps leading to a T-fitting ? all in the trunk ? then a single line through the passenger compartment just under the door (as far from me as possible) to a regulator under the hood mounted on the firewall, then to the carbs. Regulator has a gauge installed where I can see it. I don?t really refer to it while driving (although I can), primarily I use it when setting fuel pressure to the carbs. For the Spitfire 2? pounds of fuel pressure was wholly sufficient (the Holleys would deliver 7). For the TR6 maybe something else. Oh, and ALL lines braided since they were all vulnerable. I ordered my fuel cell direct from ATL and specified the two pickups. Roundy-round guys usually only have one, in the right-rear corner, because they only turn left. We go both ways. I also ordered the cell with a dipstick to know the fuel level. And then [?] discovered that while the cell had the place to put the dipstick in, the foam inside did not! I had to take the top off, pull the foam out, figure out where the hole needed to be and cut the hole in the foam. Then the first time I filled the cell, I filled it one gallon at a time and marked the dipstick. It?s worked great ever since. I also learned not to fill the cell full to the top because it would splash out of the overflow and corners got all excited that I was spilling gas. Filling it a gallon short got me through all races. For autocrossing (with the two pickups) 3 gallons worked fine. --Rocky Entriken From: Fot On Behalf Of Jason Ostrowski via Fot Sent: Wednesday, June 11, 2025 11:08 PM To: Mark Cook Cc: Friends of Triumph Group Email Subject: Re: [Fot] TR6 race car re-build - Fuel line questions Lots of questions there. My Holly regulator is mounted on the firewall bulkhead, with a tap for the fuel pressure gauge on the dash right off the regulator. My GT6 runs triple webers, 6 AN line from the rear. The pump is a facet 40?105, puts out plenty of fuel flow. It?s rated at one to four psi. My regulator is set for a three psi discharge. Webers don?t like to see any more than that.. Fuel filter in the rear upstream of the pump. It?s a fram canister filter. As a sidenote, I think having the fuel pressure gauge visible is handy so you have a confirmation that the fuel pump is working fine. That said, those facets seem to run forever, and I just replaced my first one after 15 years. One thing I think you?ll find with the webers, which are great, is that they have big float bowls. When you shut off the car, shut off the fuel pump first, and let it run a couple minutes to drain down the fuel bowls. That way you don?t have hot fuel from the exhaust manifold heat when you try to start the car again. Seems to work much better! I?m usually killing the fuel pump as I roll off the track into the pits. We use it in the ChampCar. Before we added one we found that we would have fuel pickup issues with a couple of gallons of fuel in the cell. The strategy we use on our 15 gallon tank is to start full, run 2 hours, add 10 gallons at each stop and before the Hydramat we had drivers coming in early for a "miss", throwing off the whole plan. The only drawback is that you can completely run out of fuel. It'll miss and then stop pretty quickly! www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/hydramat/ On Thu, Jun 12, 2025 at 2:12?AM rocky spitfire4.com via Fot < fot at autox.team.net> wrote: > For years I just had the stock metal line in my full-race Spitfire, which > ran under the floorboard.
