Skip is heavily involved, and most, if not all of the communications about the event come directly from him. All the drivers of this year's festival just received this Thank You note from Skip, and he is getting the word out for next year's event. Take a minute and read it, of course we are mentioned! Planning is already taking shape, I am confident I will have some exciting announcements soon on a number of fronts. The Lime Rock Historic Festival will be our chance to put on our show under a rather big spotlight, many consider the event to be the Monterey of the East. An added bonus is folks that have not run Lime Rock will get to tick off another track from their bucket list. Stay tuned for more details! Henry Frye, 2025 Kastner Cup Co-chair From: Lime Rock Historic Festival Sent: Tuesday, October 1, 2024 4:30 PM To: Henry Frye Subject: Thank You Historic Festival Drivers October 1, 2024 Dear Historic Festival Competitor, I want to start by thanking you for participating in the 42nd running of the Lime Rock Park Historic Festival. I think it was a really good event. We got lucky with the weather, had some good racing and wonderful cars in the paddock. Thank you, Ross Myers for the 3 Dog Garage display. The weekend started with the Vintage Car Parade to Falls Village, forty-three of you participated in the 125-car field, for which there were over 300 entries. Thank-you Peter Cunningham, Bruce MacInnes, Dorsey Schroeder, and moderator Greg Rickes for the Friday night panel - back to what it used to be, and nobody left early. Happy fans all four days. Next year: We have the Kastner Cup, all about Triumphs, coming for the first time; the Formula Junior Group has committed to a strong field, and I think we've got World Challenge off to a good start, at least a dozen cars who weren't here this year have said they're coming. I saw a Detroit Locker and 4.55 gears as well as an overdrive which is presumably a large accumulator A-type. And there's the long door TR2 thing. I have no interest in a project at this time, but I thought I'd share because of the "performance bits". Car is North Smithfield, RI and the listing has been up for months. Sorry I didn't run into you. Busy busy as always. Glad you had a successful race with some other cars. Gaining 8 spots is a good deal. I was really disappointed with the number of cars that were damaged/destroyed during the test days. Absolutely crazy. There's a youtube video of the remnants of Gigliotti's car. I didn't get there until Monday afternoon. I was driving around the north paddock to trouble shoot a clunking noise in the rear end on the way to the grid. It finally went away. Figured that it was a tooth from the tiny pinion I have to run. Turns out one of the bolts on my three-piece wheels backed out and was grinding away at my caliper. Huge gouge in the caliper and bolt finally broken off in the wheel. At least a 1/4" by 1/4" corner is gone from the caliper and I'm still amazed that it didn't cut through to the piston. Have a good winter and hope to see you in the spring. ________________________________ From: Joe Boruch Sent: Tuesday, October 8, 2024 10:22 AM To: FOT Triumph ; Anthony Parker Subject: Re: [Fot] Fast GT6 at the SCCA runoffs Anthony, I did not get a chance to stop by your paddock, but saw you driving around down in the north paddock at one point during the week. It was the part that goes under the radiator and back to the footwell. That?s probably 5 pounds of pretty sturdy aluminum sheet with sharp corners and edges. Cars are motoring through that corner at around 85 mph. If that thing had come down on someone, it would have been a very bad day. I need to check my odometer, but I think it was about 2800 miles round trip. I watched the SRF race from the viewing area at turn 5 with the big screen. I have also tuned the "compression" stroke of the shocks by adjusting the stiffness of the part of the valve that controls that direction of movement. I would strongly recommend that you try that. Another approach would be to install MG-B rear lever shocks and modify them the same way. The bodies of the MG shocks are larger, with larger pistons but use the same valves. TR2 to TR4 only. I have a couple of spare pairs which I?ve just had reconditioned so contact me off list if you could use them. Same opportunities on oil, adding adjustable valves etc but out of the box, the twins basically sort it out and you then have to go to another different rear suspension configuration to get anything better. The MGB shocks (DAS 10) require a larger turret to be welded onto the chassis as the four TR4 ?VC? rally cars had in period. You can then use the standard single piston shock or the adjustable twin valve type. Both DAS 10 options require the arms changing to an obscure van part and / or the use of rose jointed arms / links, so a little more engineering involved to make them work properly. I trimmed it down a little to give more travel. I placed a short length of leaf spring between the bumper and the floor to spread the load if contact is made. I'm not sure it has made contact. I changed the springs from 1.5" de-arch to 1" at the same time. With the 1.5" de-arched springs, the axle was making contact with the floor, especially when I had a passenger. The main problem was that the pinion flange was touching the tunnel. You could probably use them where the axle tube might contact the body at the wheel well to floor seems too. I had this mounted for a while, but I would not call it "done" - both the linkage and the filter setup need fettling. I think the right answer is to build a cold air box on the backplate and use a remote intake. SU HS6 setup. Includes TriumphTune adapter plates mounted and matched to a factory intake manifold, and two HS6 carbs still in the box, "freshly" rebuilt by Joe Curto. I suppose that the best place to sell these is fleabay, but I gag at the idea that they'll take 30% off the top. I'd be happy to do a direct sale, but have no idea how to value these.
