I’ve done the same.  Makes a great seat.  But gaffer tape actually works a little better than duct tape in that situation as its surface is a bit more grippy that the slick duct tape surface.

Actually, duct tape is kind of high-tech. I routinely made form-fitted seats for Peyote and other race cars with the time-honored black plastic trash bag with two-part foam. Tape the bag to the seat bucket, dump some mixed two-part foam in the bag, sit against it, and let the foam expand. Don’t overfill the bag or you might get some in your hair. Don’t ask me how I know. Once it’s set up I “upholstered” the foam with duct tape. WAY better seat than any pre-made, nicely sewn, fancy-ass seat you might buy. All for the price of some two-part foam, a trash bag, and a roll of tape.

After almost 30 years autocross the  cover on my Ultrashield Drag Seat is starting to split some seams.  Obviously too old for them to still offer a cover so second option was to have it reahpoltsered.  At $475 I am going cheap for now ... gorilla tape.
Agree not the option for everyone.

This is a stretch, but I am looking for a source that might have a Kirkey 41701 seat cover in stock.  I am heading out Tuesday and discovered a ground squirrel has decided he likes the taste of mine. I tried Summit but it is a special order. I tried Kirkey direct, and they cannot ship one out until Monday and that doesn't help.  Any tips on getting rid of a squirrel that has taken up residence in my shop would work also.  I have spent plenty on various traps and recommended lethal foods to no avail. He likes it there.
