Ken,
I have a discontinued Kirkey seat, (part # PT-41300V) with cover that has never been mounted - I bought it years ago to make a '62 MGB compliant with CSRG's rules regarding needing a passenger seat at the time. That car was sold before the seat was to be installed. It's not the high-backed seat and it doesn't have the holes cut it the top of the seat for shoulder harness's. It sort of matches the seat in my Group 1 '62 Spitfire where the shoulder straps are fastened to the roll-bar and come over the top of the racing seat.It is 15" wide. I'm 5'9" and weigh 175 lbs. and there is room to spare for me - Kirkey wants $256. now just for the cover - I'll sell seat and cover for $75. Unfortunately I no longer have the box that it was shipped in. I live about 20 miles north of Sonoma Raceway, if you were planning on going to the K-cup, I could hand deliver it to you . . .Scott Meredith sonomascot at aol.com(photo's at the bottom)

Just bought a Kirkey 38170.The challenge for guys like us is to get a seat that is wide enough for our child bearing hips, while still fitting down into the channel in the pan on a Spitfire (Schrödinger's bucket?). I would have preferred a full containment seat, but there was simply no room with the original cage in place.

Out east, it seems the budget friendly seats we see most are made by Kirkey. There used to be a couple of models that worked well and looked OK in our cars, but 10 years ago when I bought the seat for my TR3 I found only one that fit the bill. I seem to remember it was the Series 38.

Figure a little over $500 for the seat and cover from Summit Racing.

Scrutineering suggested a new era seat vs the original stiff backed short TR3A seat. A highbacked seat with belts anchored looping around the roll bar. Suggested is an understatement. My son-in-law and I are both 6'1" and 230 lbs. He is configured differently than I and 38 years younger. Now the question of which seat?
