I had a nice chat with Matt Rose this afternoon, Matt is the Chief
Steward - West for SVRA. He could not have been more accommodating. I
was assured that any Triumph that comes to Sonoma with a non-conforming
fire suppression system will be able to run. He talked to Rob Elson,
Technical Director for SVRA, and they agreed, we will not have an issue
with the new fire suppression rules. Matt gave us his cell phone number,
if anybody has a problem with tech, he wants to know so he can make it
right. Bottom line, bring a safe car prepared to your home club rules
and let's put on a great show!
He told me one of his first events as Chief Steward was our Portland
KCup in 2021, he really enjoyed having us there, and he is looking
forward to us coming back to one of his events. He went on to say he
will be Chief Steward for both Sonoma and Laguna Seca, apologized again
for the last-minute date change for Laguna Seca, (out of their control)
and said if we have any racers want to run both there is secure storage
at Sonoma for race rigs, and again, don't worry about fire suppression
rules for Laguna Seca either.
Our registration numbers could use a boost, guys. If you are planning on
running, please do so soon!

An additional FYI. I contacted SVRA and we will be allowed into the
track on Wed. before the event if you are taking advantage of the Thur.
test and practice day. This is at Sonoma and Laguna Seca if you are
staying for the second set of races. Ken

Subject: [Fot] Kastner Cup - SVRA will allow exemptions for Fire System
Please don't cancel your plans to run the Kastner Cup at Sonoma because
of the recent thread regarding fire suppression systems! I wanted to get
this out there as soon as possible, as you can see by the email below we
have reached out to SVRA and gotten a very favorable response. I am
setting up a phone call with Matt Rose later today to work out the
details.
I am confident the outcome will be if a racer does not run with SVRA on
a regular basis, they will issue a tech sticker with a notation in your
logbook giving you a one-time exemption. If you regularly attend SVRA
events, you will undoubtedly be required to install a fire system that
complies sooner rather than later.
Has anybody planning on running the KCup in Sonoma already run an SVRA
event and claimed their one-time exemption for the fire suppression
system but still not complied? If so, it would be helpful to know who
you are before my chat with Matt. Please email me your details off-list
so we can get in front of this. If nobody falls into this category I
expect my conversation with Matt will go pretty smoothly!
More details as they become available, but the bottom line is don't let
your lack of a complying fire system discourage you from running!

HI Henry,
I have spoken with Rob and this is not set in stone. May I call you
tomorrow to discuss?
The short answer is I can work with your drivers to accept the cars with
hand held fire suppression for this event.
Cheers
