Mark,Our experience with the oiling issues is that it was a GT6 problem that was resolved for TR6 engines. My wife's TR6 race engine seems perfectly happy without external oiling to the cam bearings and we also run an external oil line to the back of the head for the rockers. We haven't had any bearing issues (we do have actual cam bearings, not just the bare borings), and I know Allen Washatko ran the same setup on his somewhat hotter TR6. We have an Accusump plumbed into the blank fitting just above the oil filter housing (it's a threaded aluminum plug that we drilled out). We run a stock oil pump with an extended pickup in a deepend pan and oiling hasn't been an issue at all. Email me back if you'd like to discuss or have me send some photos of our setup.
Cheers,Jake Jacobsen

Inquiry about oil system for TR6 Race Engine.
Seems like this guy is a candidate for FOT.

Joe,
Thanks for the follow up. Actually, it is an auxiliary external oil system for the main bearings. I am exploring this as I understand the main bearings in the TR6 do not receive adequate oil flow in race conditions. I currently have a BMW Spec E46 330Ci which has a robust engine and oil system. So, the TR6 race engine is a new project for me. I owned a ’70 MG Midget and ’70 TR6 “back in the day”, but were street driven.
Attached are excerpts from the most recent version of Kastner’s Triumph preparation manual (pages 130-135). I included the section on oil pumps through oil sump. In the book, there is a discussion about the external distribution hoses on the GT6, he mentions that he “stopped all oil from going to the normal openings to the main gallery”. Also, I understand the black manifold in one of the pictures “meters” the oil flow. One of the pictures shows a feed line (the large black braided line) as going to the accusump. It is this black oil manifold that I cannot find a source or enough information even to ensure constructing it properly. I want to avoid simply having a tube with fittings made, then find it does not work as intended.
With regards to an oiler for the rocker arms, I see that there is heavy debate in most of the forums, many implying that it would starve the main bearings. There seems to be no consensus.
Anything you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks again,
Mark Cook

I am not familiar with this feature as you described it. Can you provide a digital?
Is it an oiler for the rocker arms?

Joe,
Suzanne Winters (Kas Kastner site) referred me to you regarding the Kastner external oil manifold. I am working with a local Triumph enthusiast to build another race engine for my ‘69 TR6 (using a ’75 engine) and would like to use the Kastner external oil system. The existing engine has an external oil system that a prior owner cobbled together with, well, odds and ends. It is routed the same, but not sure how effective it was when the car was running. Anything I can find does not provide detail on how the manifold “meters” the oil. Suzanne thought you might be able to provide assistance or point me in the right direction, even possibly where we can purchase a manifold.
Thanks in advance,
