I second the use of the pre-lube tank. I put a T in the oil pressure line to connect the pre-lube hose to. I just cap the T when done. Makes priming an engine easy. JoeB

I’m a big fan of a pre-lube tank. Fill it with the desired oil, unscrew a plug somewhere on the block - typically where there’s one that allowed the oil passage to a main bearing to be drilled, connect the hose, pressurize the tank with air, and it pumps oil through your whole system. No need to pull the distributor. Not. the cheapest, but I’ve used one for years, and it gets used every time I start up an engine for the first time after significant work or if the accusump has been empty for a while and I can’t use that for pre-lube.

There are others, some cheaper, some more expensive. one thing to look for is one that it is easy to dump oil into. I have a cheap one - not like this, have to use a funnel, kind of a pain.
