Hi Bryan,

I race a TR3 with a steering box and the non-adjustable steering shaft that went all the way from the wheel, straight to the worm gear.

I cut the steering shaft in the vicinity of the oil filter and welded a splined shaft end. Then, a double U-joint connecting to the top half of the shaft which attaches to the steering hub. To remove the steering wheel you must disconnect the U-joint and then pull the wheel and shaft out towards the driver’s seat. There are a couple of other components as well that locate the shaft and keep it from moving in or out. It was a big deal and I had help welding onto the stock (hollow) steering shaft.

Just wondering if this is even possible because the older and larger I get the degree of difficulty getting in and out goes up. It would be nice to be able to remove the steering wheel .
