[Fot] Group 44 Spitfire?

I seem to remember when Tim Suddard had purchased the Group 44 GT^ and he needed to have the information substantiated, Lanky Foushee had looked at it and could tell by several of the modifications he had performed on the car.

I think Lanky had passed away about 10 years ago and not sure if there’s another mechanic responsible for building the Group 44 cars.

Some of the things I remember they had found were the drilled hatch back hinges to lighten them, the eccentric suspension bushings to change camber and the rear leaf spring that could be moved side to side to change balance. These items may or may not be present on the Spit and might not be conclusive either, but it would be worth looking into.

The only way to know for sure is to ID the car by the logbook or, as Scott mentioned, by the SCCA stamp on the roll bar. With that info, you should be able to track the history of the car.

Good luck!

That cage looks pretty stout.

I’ve got a buddy in Oklahoma that bought a collection of crusty Triumphs including a Spitfire racer that supposedly is a Group 44 car. Any ideas how this claim could be verified? Photos attached.

Thanks,
