Yep, I have Bastuck dog boxes in both my TR6 and TR4, they are just the best
and I have never had any issues with them.

I run my dogbox now 12 years without any issue.

Not even the layshaft had any problem.

Very rugged stuff for the original housing.

And does quick shift too.

I have looked at the dog box but at $4860 vs $650 its a big hit. Bob's
suggestion of using only the 3rd gear I think would get 2nd and 3rd closer
but would make a bigger jump to 4th then.

Does anyone have a set of close ratio gears laying around for the TR4-6
gearbox they would be willing to part with?  They have been on backorder at
all the suppliers and they keep moving their in-stock date further out.
