Therefore, I'm considering going to a 5-speed set up. Any experience with either the HVDA (Toyota based) or the Vitesse (Miata based) units? I'm a fan of originality, but I'm also tired of fighting the fun of O/D units and the fact that getting one properly rebuilt in the US seems to be very difficult. Thanks! The benefit of the welded diff is that you have equal drive to both rear wheels in all conditions, no matter if you are powering out of a corner, or trying to park in the paddock... I've run both welded and Quaife helical LSD, I'll never go back to the welded. I made the swap mid- race weekend when the welded unit blew up. The car instantly became so much more precise (if you can say that about a GT6..). My description was that I was driving the car instead of fighting the car. Many will discount the Quaife due to inside wheelspin on corner exit, my experience has been the only time I suffer from wheel spin is when BOTH rears are spinning and I'm going sideways. This may come down to a matter of rear roll stiffness. Added bonus: the Quaife is much easier on driveline parts. Another option that looks promising is the Gripper plate type LSD - this one offers some tuning options with ramp angles/preload, etc... I've not driven with this type, but it seems to check all the boxes. These links will not have the race report for each driver like on Facebook, but the edited photos with watermarks are in each link. The one advantage with Dropbox is that you can save them in high rez, as opposed to Facebook that dulls photos down considerably, to about 1/4 the resolution of the below photo links. I don't have everyone done yet and it takes a while to go through the 8770 photos that I took throughout the weekend, so I have been trying to do one racer each day, but life has thrown a few curveballs lately. I will continue to share links each time I get each driver's photo series done. Interesting that the emails went out as I was sailing with Joe Alexander and his crew on Monterey Bay this past Wednesday. I joked and said it was my first Kastner Cup crew. After thinking about it more, I propose that we honor Kas' sailing success, by starting a "Kastner Cup Sailing Club." I modified the Kastner Cup logo (attached) and would like to order baseball caps. We can sell the hats as a fundraiser for the 2024 Kastner Cup race at Sonoma. If we have interest, I'll be happy to take a couple of groups (up to six) out sailing in Monterey Bay before the Laguna Seca races the following weekend. Again, the Sonoma Kastner Cup is April 26-28, and the Laguna Seca race is May 3-5, 2024. Buy a hat and you're in the club! Let me know if you're interested. I'll try to recruit Joe for the distribution! Thanks. Our current powerboat is a 1974 Thunderbird Formula (first year for the name Formula) and I?m sorry to say I scared Connie pretty bad (and that gal don?t scare easily) by getting caught out in sudden and vicious surprise thunderstorm with zero visibility and 50mph winds in Elephant Butte Reservoir here in New Mexico. During prohibition my great uncle, Capt. Shirley Nickerson, earned his living as a fisherman. Being an astute businessman he had the fastest boat in the area so he could get his catch to market first and get the best price. He began to notice that a number of his fellow fisherman were driving fancy cars and were well dressed around town. Now how could that be if he was getting top dollar? He soon learned that they were running booze into shore for the professional smugglers. His ?friends? encouraged him to do the same. After all, he had the fastest boat. What could possibly go wrong? He took the plunge. Being inexperienced in such matters, the ?Feds? caught him on his first run. Not only was he fined, but they confiscated his boat and used to chase down his ?fisherman? buddies. It took quite a while for the icy friendships to thaw after that episode. His buddies were BEATEN BY EQUIPMENT!!!!
