Drivers who race in the Kastner Cup are also invited to race with us the following weekend through the streets of Schenley Park ? racing like it was in the late 50?s, hay bales and all?, said Dolan. Details Driver Survey - We're Listening! We conducted a driver survey in September of 2021 after the races and results were very positive on both race weekends. However, there were issues and we are listening to you and will make several changes: Schedule We are revamping our schedule to increase track time for all groups, with more races and less practice and qualifying. Flags We are updating our flagging procedures to ensure more green flag laps and to fix the black flag issues we had at Pitt Race. Dinner The Saturday dinner at Pitt Race will move upstairs at the Conference Center. We will reduce the wait time and increase the quality of the meal - beer will stay the same! Paving Parts of the Schenley Park road course were redone in the fall and we anticipate more paving to take place in the spring. Registration Last year was our first attempt at using MotorsportReg for racer registration and the first time for some of the racers. We have revamped and simplified the process. Kudos to John & Tori Ross for taking over late in the game to get us through 2021 and for coming back this year. We promise improvements and if you have any issues please email John Ross. I was an officer of a company that among other things is one of the largest Independent Toyota distributers in the world. Yes, even Toyota still has a few independent distributers left. They all make a lot of their profit from what they add to the cars after they get them in port and before invoicing the dealers for them. In fact, in the US there are two Regions that the cars are delivered to the dealers slightly differently than the rest of the country. This type of distribution was much more popular in the 50?s, 60?s, and 70?s. So where I am going with this, is that Larry?s car may have been delivered to a dealer with rubber floors and Terry?s car may have originally been delivered with carpet. Or the dealers could have done things to them prior to final delivery. There was a Chicago dealer that was a direct importer and distributor of several import car lines. None of them ever made it to the retail lot without going through a department that added to them and increased the MSRP for the options that they added. So again, In addition to distributers and importers adding to the cars, it was very popular for dealers to have packages of things that they added to cars to increase profit. A lot of this pre-dates the current US system for New Car Monroney labels from the factory, that the dealer cannot remove or change. It was very easy for the dealers to modify the cars and set the price. I am sharing this, because it could help understand why to two cars that are very original could be different and both be correct. Even in the 80?s and early 90?s there was mass confusion over what model year some Alfa?s and Maserati?s actually were. They left Italy in one year and did not get recognized in the US until one or two model years later. We sold them new and it was amazing that this was still happening in the late 80?s and 90?s. Due to the US VIN numbers system, with the 10th digit being the model year, this never should have happened. However, It was. Have a good Sunday, Paul Ricco > On Mar 6, 2022, at 3:08 PM, Larry Young via Fot wrote: > > Terry, > I've had my TR250 from new and still have most of the original interior parts. We'll be at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Historics July 14-17 at PittRace International. The attached PDF files provide the quick facts you'll need to plan your trip and register. I have the race weekend schedule for you as well. Triumphs will run in separate run groups throughout the weekend, but come together for the Saturday Kastner Cup race (30 minutes) and the Sunday Reunion race (20). The amount of track time available in the separate run groups is significant, so you will not be disappointed. Also, be sure to book the hotel soon, as we have a $115 rate available. For those that want to run both GVGP weekends, you can keep your trailer at PittRace for the week following the Kastner Cup. Thanks. Also, be sure to book the hotel soon, as we have a $115 rate available. >> >> For those that want to run both GVGP weekends, you can keep your trailer at PittRace for the week following the Kastner Cup. >> >> Thanks. >> >> Curt Johnston >> 2022 Kastner Cup Committee Chair >> curt.johnston at comcast.net >> 707-249-1667 >> > <2022 Kastner Cup Quick Facts Handout_March 10 2022.pdf> > <2022 Kastner Cup Race Schedule.pdf> >> _______________________________________________ >> fot at autox.team.net >> >> http://www.fot-racing.com >> >> Donate: http://www.team.net/donate.html >> Archive: http://autox.team.net/archive http://www.team.net/pipermail/fot >> Unsubscribe/Manage: http://autox.team.net/mailman/options/fot/vfracing at aol.com >> >> > _______________________________________________ > fot at autox.team.net > > http://www.fot-racing.com > > Donate: http://www.team.net/donate.html > Archive: http://autox.team.net/archive http://www.team.net/pipermail/fot > Unsubscribe/Manage: http://autox.team.net/mailman/options/fot/bitishrm at comcast.net > > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... First up will be his beautifully restored 1980 TR8. Photo session by our very own Don Couch last week produced some amazing documentation of the car. This will be submitted to BAT later tonight unless one of you has serious interest. Link to photos https://dcphotos.photoshelter.com/gallery/Blake-TR8/G0000HjfTHoioXZk Brief write up. Basic facts 1980 TR8, Austin, TX, USA Not listed for sale under current ownership Not listed by BAT to my knowledge Not a dealer TPVDV8AT213053 6 1?2 years Years 9034 indicated miles, total miles 134,705 5,500 miles under my tenure Mileage number accurate Original engine, to the best of my knowledge 3.5L 5 speed manual Clean Texas Title in my name HISTORY I?ve been a Triumph owner since the 1960s. The first car being a BRG TR3 that my wife and I drove all over Texas while I was a flight instructor in the army. Fast forward to the late 80?s and we purchased another TR3 to refurbish and have as a fun second car. This second car became my son?s car when he was 16 which he still owns and races with CVAR. Through the years, the stable of TRs grew to include a TR6 and a race prepared TR4. The information I have on the TR8 dates from 2001. The car was in Santa Fe, New Mexico from 2001 to 2005. It was sold in 2005 and moved to North Saanich, British Colombia. As previously mentioned, I already owned a TR4 race car and a TR6 street car, I was on the lookout for a TR8 to add to the family. I found this car for sale near Victoria, BC in late July 2016 and embarked on cross country junket with my car trailer in tow to collect it. I was intrigued by the car and, nearly as much, intrigued with a road trip to a part of the country I had not visited before, other than by air to Seattle. I left my trusty pup Gracie in the care of a local Veterinarian for some restorative surgery and spent 10 days sightseeing. It was a marvelous trip, culminating in a sea voyage across the Salish Sea, twixt Port Angeles, Washington and Vancouver Island, complete with whale watching and a local Triumph club heading to a weekend meet on the Island. I collected the car and then spent a day seeing the sights in Victoria. I left for home with the thought in mind that Victoria was definitely worthy of a longer visit sometime in the future, perhaps with Gracie in tow. ORIGINALITY The vehicle is not 100% original. Modifications performed in BC from 2005 to 2016 included: Body removal and restoration to original condition, complete interior replacement, Rimmer Bros. alloy roll bar added, brake and suspension rebuild, exhaust headers, new stainless exhaust system, engine and transmission rebuild, differential rebuild (3.45:1) and new soft top and matching boot cover. Work performed under current owner's tenure include: TSI high torque starter installed, oil pump modification, Edelbrock manifold with Holley 4 barrel carburetor installed and a fuel pump cutoff switch installed for security. BODYWORK DONE AND REASONS According to records received with the car there were parking lot dents in both doors and there was a rust bubble in the bottom of the passenger door, these sustained during the time in Santa Fe. These were rectified while the car was in BC, during which time the paint color was changed from blue to a bare metal repaint in Carnelian Red. ISSUES The car burns about a quart of oil in 500 miles. Minor blemishes in the paint as indicated in the gallery, the high beam indicator dash light out, the 3 prong oil pressure switch has been bypassed (replacement switch included). Small sealing blocks at the top of the wing windows missing, part not available. The driver?s side fabric strap on the soft top frame is torn. RUST No significant rust. There is slight surface rust in fender well lip to rear of right front wheel due to paint erosion caused by road debris: noted in gallery. SERVICE RECORDS Minimal from prior ownership. Service under current ownership well documented. RECENT SERVICE Recent oil and filter change ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW No radio, no air conditioning. Original carburetors and manifold removed for the Edelbrock manifold installation retained and go with the car. I did what I set out to do 1in 1968; drive at Watkins Glen. Took 39 years to do it, but I did it in '07. I've had a great time and met a lot of great folks during the last 15 years, but it's time to move on. I now own a second farm, which is in need of a lot of work. My own farm takes a lot of work, even though I rent it out to a local family who farm it. And take great care of my land. And make me kind of a part of their family. Great family. I'm also pushing 74, and have some other hobbies and interests. Running, triathlons, etc. Also very involved with the Erie Runners Club; Board of Directors and Marathon Committee. Took up downhill skiing 3 years ago, after a 25 year layoff. May join the National Ski Patrol again. Was a Senior Patroller years ago. Then there is the time factor involved. I'm not getting any younger! I also help a 94 year old cousin; eyesight fading, hearing going, has to use a walker, and is basically housebound. I don't want to hit that stage! Enjoy my years here now! (Life is short; eat dessert first!) So the TR6 is for sale. I was never the fastest car out there, but sure had fun! I'm near Erie PA. Give me a shout if interested. Have lots of spares. Bring 2 trailers. Cheers, Bill On 3/18/2022 10:09 AM, finishing Touch via Fot wrote: > Is anyone aware of any TR6 race cars for sale??
