Thanks, I now know what is correct, have no idea how what was on the car got there as it was neither early or late.

Scott,  The early cars had a molded in door pull in that part.  The later cars had a chrome door pull in the center of the door panel. This door capping was plastic like the dash without a pull.  If you cover this will plain black upholstery  material it would look ok.  Lorne
