All of the Spit engines, it's in the design, the feed port to the center main is directly behind the dist/oil pump shaft bush.

Pretty sure it is applicable to the 1147 as well, seeing as how I lost countless engines to #3 rod bearings melting down and requesting exit via the side of the block.

I forget guys, is this applicable to the 6 cylinder motors too (TR6, GT6).  Building a few of those motors in near future.

...glad you brought it up, specifically that's one of the most important mods to the oiling system.

The first and most important thing on a 1300 is to make the middle oil feed passage larger. It serves cylinders 2 and 3 while the other two oil passages (front and rear) serve only 1 cylinder. You will end up with a grenade going off in your race engine eventually if that one thing is not done. Ask me how I know.I wish I’d known that fact beforehand.

Hello Everyone,
I am a new member and new to racing Spitfires.  In fact, my first experience with racing, competition school in Waterford MI, didn't  end well for my engine (see attachment).
I am planning to rebuild an extra small journal 1300 and I am requesting advise from the very knowledgeable people on this site.  I have all the spare engine parts I could ever need and a great machine shop near by so mainly I am interested on advice on where to buy parts( pistons, rods ,rings etc..).
There are many sources on the internet but since I have never built one of these before I am interested in your input.
Also, while I'm at it, I would like to improve my transmission and rearend.  I am open to anything from minor improvement to a complete swap of my transmission or rearend.
Thanks for you help.
