[Fot] HF Parts Washer

I'd try the Purple stuff in the parts cleaner or mineral spirits. The Purple stuff is considered a degreaser and also removes paint. I have been resurrecting a 1986 BMW R80 motorcycle that had been in storage for 25 years. The red factory fuel tank sealer was flaking off causing issues. I poured in a gallon and a half of the Purple stuff, rotating the tank in a number of positions over a couple days and all the liner completely dissolved. Problem solved. I've used this stuff for cleaning greasy and grimy nuts and bolts and other items like brackets and tools. I just leave the bits in a 5 gallon bucket over night, then strain off the cleaning agent, then hosing off the items. This system has been working great. Simple Green will work similarly. I clean carburetors in containers over night. Full strength can be over kill and can tarnish alloys, but I haven't seen this with the Purple stuff. This approach has worked well with great results.
Both the Purple stuff and Simple Green can be diluted with water.

In the meantime, if anyone has any constructive advice I'd welcome it. Otherwise, it will just remain a solvent tank if I can't fix it. It doesn't get used that much.
