Hi Kas...
Mike Belfer and Kevin Potter, who prep'd my cars made an alteration to that oil sump (some sort of gravity driven wiper to help keep the oil moving)

Back in the 50's the aluminum cast oil pan was an important piece . In those days we were not allowed an oil cooler and the pan had more capacity and it also did a little cooling, but it also strengthened the block. The casting is thick and helped stabilize the Tr-3 block. Valuable part in days gone by. I admit I did grind the bottom of the pan on the track in races but always used it for the cooling of the oil benefit (more due to increased capacity than anything else)
Never be beaten by equipment.

Thanks all for the replies. And as TeriAnn points out, I was actually trying to ask a question as to whether the sump was Triumph or aftermarket, I just worded it poorly. Considering it's age I'm guessing it's an original.
For those that asked if it was for sale, I guess the best answer is it was, which is why I was trying to find out more information about it.
Thanks!

Was there supposed to be a question? I have your oil pans twin purchased from Ken Gillanders @ British Frame and Engine in late 1980s. Just checked, looks like new ones go for $600 these days. TeriAnn

I have an old cast aluminum oil sump with part # 301318 cast into the bottom flange. At one time I thought someone told me that it was an original Triumph produced go fast part. This particular sump came from a TR3 that was last raced in the early to mid 70s.
Thanks,
Brad
