I would recommend “Faster” by Neil Bascomb. A real life account of how a down and out French manufacturer (Delahaye), a millionaire Hieress (Lucy Schel) and a Jewish driver (Rene Dreyfus) thwarted the Third Reich’s plans to dominate the 1938 Grand Prix season.  The several years’ build up to the race Gives some interesting insights into the personalities of Dreyfus, Carriciola, Chiron and other famous drivers of the day. A real “page turner!”
