Thanks you all of you for your great comments and ideas. The cleanest way
might be the BW35 from the 2000 sedan since the bell housing is a good match
to the TR250 engine. I've now got a couple good examples of where this was
successfully done. This also requires some mods to the floor pan area on
each side, plus some work on the tunnel and firewall since the gearbox is
wider.
For sure, it's a lot of work but, if done right, would result in a unique
ride. A downside would be the higher revs in top gear but changing to 3.45
gearing would minimize that, although more work and more $$. The
all-electric option was something from way out in left field but it sure
looks intriguing.
I'll talk this over with the owner who wants to make the change and see if I
can convince him to buy a TR7, 8, or Stag!

Subject: [Fot] Converting a TR250 to an Automatic Transmission
List,
We have a Texas Triumph Register Club member who would like to convert his
TR250 to an automatic transmission because of his inability to work the
clutch for health reasons. He really loves the car and would like to
continue driving it as long as he is able. Does anyone know of a person or
company who has done this? I suppose a complete engine AND gearbox swap
might be an option but he would prefer to keep his original engine.
Thanks,
Mike Hado
