Of course, there are and have been a lot of very capable people but Kas in the Triumph racing community. But if someone wants to learn about Triumph race cars, Kas is the most obvious source,
because of his books and the fact that he is even today still busy and genuinely interested in racing Triumphs, and of course, what he says has been proven. So I would like to do justice, we have to appreciate the work of all the people who tried and succeeded in making Triumphs faster and now and then really very fast,
Marcel

I have to agree with Chris. Chris and I started racing about the same time in the german TriumphCompetition and British GT championship. I had already 2 years experience in the Belgian BRAVO competition. Till 2011 I had an advance over Chris and have won the Triumph competition overall in 2010 and 2011. But Chris was determined to beat all the other drivers, me in the first place or should I say : only me! He succeeded and in 2011 he did beat me for the 1st time. Where : at the Assen TT circuit, his favourite track. By then, I had told him all I knew about car preparation and he was working with Kas already. Zandvoort 2017 was the last time I could beat Chris : I finished 1st overall, Chris was 2nd, his engine was powerfull, but maybe there was an antirollbar issue on his car. Anyway I can't beat him anymore. His determination, Kas helping him to the full and his experience with the TR8, with wich he is competing in much faster championships, has ironed him to a very fast driver. From the beginning, I learned a lot from the books of Kas and I mailed him now and then, mostly about my engine and dyno work but since the Assen humiliation, a week ago, Kas is helping me in the chassis department. In there is small possibility, I will try to beat Chris once again : this is only possible if my car is better than his. But with 67 years old, I'll have to be in a hurry I believe,Kas can only give someone specific advice if he knows your car of course, all general information about racing Triumph cars is in his books. Chris and I had arguements over the years, but we always kept talking to each other and over the years, although we are different characters, mutual respect has grown. I have to add that I have great respect for his work with the TR8 : it has cost him an awful lot of work and time and money and he got more than a fair share of heavy blows along the way, yet he does not give up. So he is a champion!
I will post a lead to a video of the same race at the Assen circuit, onboard of my car, but turn down the audio, because I drilled by accident in the microphone lead

Hi FOT,
A philosophic statement:
With regards to this video from Assen race track, I’ve got many comments about, “how is your car so fast”, “why does it handle so well”, “why does it brake so good”, “where did you learn to drive so quick”.
The answer is very simple.
Kas showed me everything.
I do what he suggests. I explain the problem to him and he gives the right answer to make my race car quick and he has also advice on how to drive and how to deal with other drivers.
I get often the comments, that Kas knowledge is from yesterday – outdated – for me it is the best knowledge base I can get from someone who did serious PRO motorsport and not this amateur motorsport we are being in.
This means for me, everything he advises has been proved a thousand times, with many drivers which you can call the best of the best.
So who I am to know it better? Who are these other amateur drivers who say that they know it better?
Conclusion:
Everybody who knows “better” has to learn the bitter lesson that not listening to Kas make them losing races, wasting money and having less fun.
Cheers
Chris

Assen was really fun. The weather was largely great, all participants were in a good mood. Most cars have kept up (which, oddly enough, is always a problem at Assen).
After a solid 2nd place in Race 1, a failure with a pushrod damage in Race 2, made me start from the back in Race 3. I got help from Philippe Vermast. He had suffered an engine failure, but could find a replacement engine and shared in race 3 with me the last row.
Philippe immediately took the lead in our Dynamic Duo and we made our way through the strong field of cars ahead.
Although I was the first to cross the finish line, unfortunately I did an unnoticed overtaking maneuver under the Yellow Flag. So I was reset by 20 seconds, on P4. Of course I'm happy for the winners on the podium, because I had had so much fun in this catch-up race. Philippe had also enjoyed the furious ride. Unfortunately, he touched a tire barrier in the chicane and bent the steering. He did not reach the finish.
