Hi John,
You are right. His move wasn’t correct.
I’ve tried to distract him with a tiny move to the left. He didn’t care and went over the grass.
Good that the Dutch grass is more sticky than the British one :)
At that moment I was happy he passed my as I had more fun to have a go again on him.
Sorry that I’m so selfish.
Cheers
Chris

You cannot legally pass someone if you are not on the track.
In UK racing, "exceeding the racing limits" which are marked by white lines where there are no kerbs, can annul a pass, can get you a time penalty, or a visit to the Clerk of the Course and disqualification.
As all know, a car on the grass is a car out of control.
Personally, I'm fed up with drivers who take a risk and cause me damage as a result.
I hope that this sort of racing isn't what might happen at the Kastner Cup!
John

Hi Bill,
It is not allowed to touch other cars in this racing group (still happen occasionally, but rarely).
So everybody is taking care which makes it more fun to go through corners with 2 or 3 cars and see how is on front :)
They Healey driver managed to pass me on the grass.
I tried to gently block his line but that didn’t disturb him. He went on the green …. Great driving and bravery of him :)
So much fun to race with a great bunch of people.
Assen is a track with many engine failures. As soon as possible I tried to save the engine, keeping the revs low.
Thank you for your compliment!
Cheers
Chris

Chris...
AWESOME!
I am particularly impressed with the close racing early on. You pulled off some extremely close maneuvers without an incident. Only the laundry knows how exciting such close racing can be.
Early on, that yellow Austin Healy's straight line speed was an issue, but you got it handled eventually.
I was also impressed with how 'gentle you are with the car's drive train' during the long periods when you were alone on the track. Those were still some of your fastest laps, but rarely did you even touch 6,000 rpms.
Das ist GUT!

Assen was really fun. The weather was largely great, all participants were in a good mood. Most cars have kept up (which, oddly enough, is always a problem at Assen).
After a solid 2nd place in Race 1, a failure with a pushrod damage in Race 2, made me start from the back in Race 3. I got help from Philippe Vermast. He had suffered an engine failure, but could find a replacement engine and shared in race 3 with me the last row.
Philippe immediately took the lead in our Dynamic Duo and we made our way through the strong field of cars ahead.
Although I was the first to cross the finish line, unfortunately I did an unnoticed overtaking maneuver under the Yellow Flag. So I was reset by 20 seconds, on P4. Of course I'm happy for the winners on the podium, because I had had so much fun in this catch-up race. Philippe had also enjoyed the furious ride. Unfortunately, he touched a tire barrier in the chicane and bent the steering. He did not reach the finish.
