Scott - I ran a DCOE40 setup for years on the street with the Canon manifold and the balance tubes. This was STOCK cam and STOCK compression. The Canon with balance tubes seems to contribute to better idle and also better low-speed driving. I had to play with the jets to get it so the engine would run smoothly on steady throttle (like 65 MPH on the highway), but once I had the jets set up right, it was pretty awesome. Regarding cams, I have the GP3 in my Dad's old car and it's pretty sweet. I like the slightly lumpy idle - it tells you that something kool is going on under the bonnet. The car was quick in Solo / autocross (D Street Prepared back in the day) with a number of FTD's at various events and always PAXd pretty well. It was faster when I put a cam in. I took the Webers off so I could put them on Khartu. Side-note - the cam in Khartu is an Isky Z19. Nothing fancy and it pulls all the way from 2000 RPMs like a street cam should. If you need to talk jets some time, drop me line. Note that the dyno is your friend when jetting.

Scott,
I have Don Carter’s car quasi-famous white TR6 with blue interior. triple 40DCOE’s on a canon manifold in a street TR6. It’s got the Richard Good GP2 cam and a somewhat raised compression, lightened flywheel, MSD, etc. It is easy to drive around town and is about the fastest street legal autocross TR6 I’ve seen. Not race car fast, but pretty dang quick.
I agree that the carburetors are overkill but the combination is working pretty well.

I have Triumphtune manifolds on my GT6, which are stepped and don’t have the inter-connecting “balancing” tube that the Cannon does. I’m curious about the purpose of this and whether it is beneficial or detrimental.
