[Fot] TR4 (early) steering rack mount stiffening

Dave, I did something like what you describe.  I welded angle iron to 
the frame rails below the rack mounts for the diagonals to bolt to.  
This one is more of a vee welded to a cross bar out of thick flat 
stock.  I've attached a pic of the engine bay where you can kind of see 
this.  It works surprisingly well.  I did the angles in such a way that 
they didn't interfere with engine removal / installation.
