That's why the copper gaskets are a bit thicker than the steel ones.
The liners of Darryl are sitting a little bit lower (some 0.006 : probably not relevant?) and the block can be milled : that is surely an advantage to get a flat top face and the right protrusion of the liners everywhere. Few blocks are truly flat and in most cases the protrusion is not even everywhere. So I do agree that there is a lot to say for the longer liners that Daryll is selling, not only the 72 £ a set!

Daryl advocates decking the block as well To get proper protrusion. Eliminating the gasket reduces variation in protrusion due to variable gasket thicknesses, and also eliminates some of the possible loss of protrusion due to gasket compression ( more likely with copper than with steel).

Regardless of who makes or supplies the liners , with the correct protrusion, the liner will hourglass .
Only way to correct this is the use of a torque plate and then proceed with boring and honing to final finish size .
Yes , a lot of work but you’ll get better ring seal and hopefully not stick a piston :-)
Merry Christmas to all

The liners distort a lot when torqued down, even 87mm.
I have no experience with the liners in question, so can't offer anything on them.

Why thicker walls on a 87mm liner, they are strong enough with the normal thickness?

The figure of 8 gaskets are thicker than 0.010" : 0.016 or 0.018".

Boring up to 89mm : I would rather buy 89mm liners, without the need of machining.
I bought several parts from Racetorations (Darryl Uprichard) and was always satisfied.
Marcel.

I came across this advertisement today and was curious if anyone has used these liners and done so w/o fo8 gaskets as described in the listing.
Thanks
Greg.
