Note the language used by SVRA for fire systems:
On Board Fire Suppression Systems and Fire Extinguishers shall be maintained according the manufacture’s recommendations.
This is similar to the SCCA.
For systems bearing an SFI label, this means they need to be tested every two years.   Dates are month-specific and shown on the label on the bottle.  Sometimes this is enforced, sometimes not.
The small handheld fire extinguishers typically used (where allowed) in race cars often have  no periodic maintenance schedule on them.  Note that the National Fire Protection Association indicates a life expectancy of 12 to 15 years.

Hi Christian, mine is the same. It was built before the FIA adopted a standard. It is good forever, (kind of like SPAM) from a sanctioning body point of view, it has no expiration date explicitly listed. But, I found out the helmet straps do have a date on them and a fixed lifetime .SCCA, my normal run group, doesn't check them as long as the HANS frame is in compliance. SVRA does look and I had to buy a new tether at the track. I have an original HANS brand device, I can't speak to the requirements or limitations on other manufacture's hardware.

Betreff: [Fot] Kastner Cup Safety Gear Scott brings up an good point. Based on my tech experience at Watkins Glen, SVRA did a typical inspection on my car but they did go through all my gear and belts with a fine tooth comb. All your gear including your head and neck restraint MUST be up to date. If your HANS (or whatever version you run) is not current per the SVRA rules send them out for recertification now or you WILL have issues at tech come June. MartyFrom: Scott Janzen <sjanzen at me.com>

Subject: Re: [Fot] 2020 Kastner Cup December Update  signed up. Easy.  If you are not doing any of the special events it’s only $100 to sign up. Time to send my Hans off to get re-certified - I hear SVRA checks this and belts. Scott JanzenGT6 On Dec 7, 2019, at 8:44 AM, marty via Fot <fot at autox.team.net> wrote: Good morning all. There is a bunch of activity going on behind the scenes for next years Kastner Cup at Mid Ohio. Some really neat things are falling into place. I should be able to share them with the masses next month hopefully when more things are finalized. On my unofficial list I have 58 Triumph racers that have expressed intentions to be there. Given that some will not be able to make it and some will show up that are not on the FOT list it is looking like this will be a new record for the Kastner Cup races. I plan to start begging for paddock spots with SVRA in January. I have sketched out a preliminary paddock map and if everybody shows up we will be taking over more than half of the upper paddock. I need you to log onto the SVRA site and register for the event if you have not done so yet. Remember, this race is only going to cost you $100 and if you are able to start the feature race (Kastner Cup) on  Sunday you will get your $100 back.  I have my driver count but when it comes to secure paddock space for the group the number of registrations is what is going to count when SVRA is going assign us spots. Stay warm and get those Triumphs ready! Marty Sukey_______________________________________________
