Thanks for everybody's input. I have a couple of super trapps. Never really cared for them on my hillclimb car. They create noticeable back pressure with plates and end cap. I hole sawed a 1-1/2" hole in the cap which allowed the motor to spin a whole lot better but was a whole lot louder too. I have a spiral muffler from another project but it is 3-1/2" inlet/outlet. Maybe I'll pick up a 2" inlet/outlet and try it.Thanks again.

I also have a spiral design muffler on my TR3. It looks like a Cherry Bomb style glass pack without the red paint. My car is pretty quiet, I've been told it's the quietest in my group. I also have a Supertrapp slip-on to get it even quieter for occasional street use. I run that with a lot of plates and the end cover.
I've run events at Laguna where there is a bell curve sound limit...quieter in the a.m. and later in the afternoon without any problems.
I was told my muffler was a prototype from Edelbrock that didn't go into production. You can see through it with the spiral surrounding the through opening.

I use a moroso spiral-flow. No baffles, just a spiral passageway that takes the high-end rasp out of the sound

A Supertrapp takes my HP Spitfire (13:1) down to about 90 most days. Highest I’ve hit the meter was 94 on a high humidity day. And I run it open, no plates, straight out the back. --Rocky Entriken From: Brian Dennis via FotSent: Monday, October 8, 2018 3:08 PMTo: FOT TriumphSubject: [Fot] Mufflers? What are folks using on GT6 to get noise down to 98db? Full race 12:1 2.0L. Most local (New England) tracks have noise rules. Some have open exhaust days but are limited. Thanks, BrianFoster, RI
