[Fot] Oversize alternator pulley source

In Europe it makes no sense to gutt an alternator. We need to run lights all around in case of rain and fog.
I agreed that it is good to have higher voltage on the ignition. 14 V are great.

My battery has 18.5Ah.

Cheers

I'm ok with a gutted non functional rotating pully . If they allow a light battery.

SVRA will penalize you 25 lbs if you don’t have a generator or alternator. You don’t need to prove it works, however, and a gutted generator and mount weighs a lot less than the 25 lb penalty.

It weighs 3 lbs, it is safer and has enough power to run the ignition and fuel pump easily for a couple of 25 min sessions. Get a simple volt meter in the dash . It starts at about 13.4 volts and ends @ 12.9 depending on how much you need to crank. Heck get two -one to power the starter and one smaller for the rest of the car.

Volts, which makes electronic ignition systems much happier than the 12.5 volts of lead acid batteries. A typical little battery for a RC model is 5000mah (or 5AH in more normal parlance) and it's a little smaller than a pound of butter. While one of them might actually crank your motor, five or six is a better bet. I had ten handy that I'm no longer using (new drone) so I put them together for peyote. 50AH, 1000Amps of cranking current. If I ever draw that my starter wire will probably vaporize, but the starter spins briskly. pertronix ignition at 6000 rpm draws five amps. So eight to ten hours of running flat out. That's the biggest load by far unless you're running an electric water pump.

With typical voltage drop an LA battery might drop to 11V at full load. LiPos start with a higher voltage and don't droop as much, so everything works better.
