[Fot] TR type A OD

I always used the earlier A-Type O/D (with the large accumulator) in my race car.  Raced for 24 seasons and never had an O/D mechanical failure.  It is a verry stout unit.  I'm not sure the change took place with the introduction of the 4-Synchro box.  I think some of the large accumulator overdrives I used came out of early TR-4's.  I'm pretty sure all of the TR-4A's had the later design with the smaller accumulator.

There should be a difference between 3 synchro and 4 synchro box
mainshafts. The earlier boxes used the large accumulator which is more
desirable for racing.

Once i removed the 6 nuts and washers, I had to tap the studs with a brass drift to get the rear housing to separate from the main housing. But now i can't get the rear OD housing to come completely off. I can get about a 1/4" gap between the rear and main housing but it won't come all the way off. What am I doing wrong?
