Very fast indeed. The Spec Miata leaders were running 1:41 +/- as I recall. If you were watching the top 5 cars closely, you saw close, clean, and very aggressive, racing.
In fact I’d say that the field used the tools they had at their disposal really well. There was much to learn from watching them. Subtle moves, blocks, drafting, etc… Sure there was some paint that was swapped, but that is the nature of spec racing, especially when you have that many cars so close in performance.
As I said, much to learn from them.
Terry.

Good observations, Terry. Clean racing and very fast in all the groups. Ted

I just got home from Mid Ohio.
The initial torrid pace set by the two Spitfires in their respective class races, just to stay ahead of the more modern machinery, would have worked if the races were the same length as our vintage races are, but 23 laps/40 mins. Is just too much methinks.
Still there was excellent racing in all the classes of cars that have fenders today. A superb example of race craft on display.
And who would have thought that a Toyota Yaris would be so fast?

Triumphs aren't doing well at the Runoffs. Steve Sargis spun out of first and broke. Tom Feller finished about seventh. Never saw Ryan after the first qualifying day. One lap and out.
