In the 1950's to 1958  we wore a stupid heavy cork helmet (Cromwell) from
England and a "T" shirt with whatever foot wear you liked best. The
Cromwell did have very nice soft leather straps and belts and good buckles
though. No one ever questioned my moccasins either. Not even long sleeves
were required and seat belts were also optional for a long time.
