Hello Ted,

I don't have access to my files but I did find the box (?) the starter I have came in . To answer your question it appears I purchased it from the Roadster Factory, PA. The packaging says PLATINUM mfr., premium quality Remanufactured Starters. Uhg! I do remember having to re-orientate the mounting flange to be able to install the starter. A pain to do too.
My thought in buying from TRF (most expensive) is it would be a quality trouble free unit. From every ones descriptions these are prone to failure. My hope in opening up my unit is it is repairable. Otherwise I will be giving you a call.

Bob, where did you buy the starter. Starters come is several versions - 1) used or re-manufactured and and adapter made or modified; 2) new Chinese unit (you get what yoyu pay for; 3) our new Denso unit with correct gear, etc. Our nit sells for $200 and includes "jumper" wire for hook-up. About the vibration advice you received. Almost everybody is kinda/sorta correct. What you do is open the back cover. Find the wires gong to the brushes. Unwind several turns of the wire. Then use silicon RTV to embed the wire going to brushes. This "shock mounts" the wire and vibration issue is fixed. This problem is most common Formula cars such as Formula Atlantic where the engines turns incredible revs fro an extended period of time. Please let me know if we can help. Ted

Happy holidays,

I have taken in all the suggestions buy everyone, most I have done already as mentioned in my post. And taken in those experiences with these starters and it looks like I have to take mine out of the car to open it up. But prepared to purchase a new unit just not sure whose to buy as I see a $100+ difference between the different suppliers.

Will follow up later but wish me luck.
