When I first installed my Tilton balance bar, I had a similar problem.  The
front disks would work but would not release.  In my case it turned out that
the pushrods for the dual master cylinders were not coming back out enough
to allow the release hole in the master cylinder to bleed back into the
reservoir.  Making adjustments to the length of the rods solved the problem.

 

I hope yours is that simple.

Sounds like the master cylinder bore is corroded and hanging up the piston.
If it is, I would ditch the aftermarket brake setup and return to OEM.

If the master cylinder isn't fully released, it will keep pressure on the
caliper.  I had a rubber brake link in my Miata collapse internally and
cause this issue for a single caliper.

I can't help you with the cause of the sticking, but certainly it sounds
like the master cylinder didn't fully release either due to an internal
issue or a linkage issue.
