It is well documented that it is more important to change the filter between race weekends. The oil's protective properties lesson over time, but are not so much as to need changing every weekend. So filter change every weekend, oil change every other. Easier to do these changes between weekends, as doing it on an hourly basis may prevent you from making a session. Use the hr meter to judge the frequency of refreshing combined with a good leakdown

So, Chip and Russ, how many hours do you run a filter/oil?

Absolutely! Every race application vehicle I have built doesn’t leave the shop without one. All checks, replacements and race prep reference the hours on the clock, otherwise you’re shooting in the dark.

you should all have hr meters on your cars....that is the foolproof way to be spot on when you need a refresh...estimating engine time by event dates is very inaccurate

Chuck, did the rep preface that statement with how much run time his "race weekend" consists of? I can burn 3 times the fuel at a VDCA weekend as I did at the Lime Rock Historics last weekend!
