Try Woody's Wheel Works in Denver. He taught me to lace up indestructible MX wheels 40 years ago. If you ever visit the shop you will see stacks of Borrani's and Halibrands from all over the country in for re-build, straightening & repairs. ( NFI )

If he can't fix it it probably can't be fixed.

Subject: [Fot] Alloy wheel repair

two of the 13x6 cosmics for my GT6 are developing hairline cracks in the hub/center cap area.  These do not yet extend down close to the bolt holes.  Fortunately, I have eight of the wheels, but would like to have a full spare set.

I'm thinking an aluminum sleeve could be machined and welded inside the hub for reinforcement, and the crack welded up.

I can't find anyone local who wants to mess with it.  Any recommendations?  I can ship the wheels, even have the sleeve made in advance.  I'm not sure what the compatible alloy to these rough cast wheels is, however.

Hate to give up on them - they're a nice period piece and are otherwise overbuilt, but when drilled for this bolt hole spacing it took just a bit too much off the hub, 45 years ago!

Lastly, any good wheel alternatives - no offense to anyone, but I'd like not to go to the Minilite look.
