[Fot] Quaife for Spitfire/GT6

The Quaife isn't ideal purely for racing, but it would be a great compromise for a car that's street legal and sees time on the track, too. Once you unweight the right rear tire, you lose drive. But that's not going to happen on the street at anything like legal (or reasonable) speeds. And on the track, it has the benefit of teaching you to be very smooth transitioning the weight of the car around - if you don't turn in smoothly enough, you'll unweight that tire and regret it.

I don't know anything about the Yukon, but I can say that the PhantomGrip is more phantom than grip. When I tried it, my times did not improve any over an open diff. Save your money on that option.

The Quaife does provide limited slip potential but because it is torque biased, if you break an axle or U-Joint on one side, you lose all drive on both sides. So you will be pushing the car off the course.

Joe

Jason,

Take a look at these options. Marcel uses the Yukon I believe and the other lets you convert your diff to a LSD..
I have tried neither but they look like good options to the Quaife.

This diff is going to be used for autox, vintage race, and street....I think the Quaife offers the best compromise for me- welded spiders would be a bit too much.

Not to spark a huge debate, but I simply weld the spider gears. It's a little cheaper.
Of course the driving style is a little different.
