I have been towing with a 2011 f150 with the 3.5 eco boost engine. It is by far the best towing vehicle I have had. It has 77,000 miles with 17,000 miles towing an enclosed trailer weighing about 5,000 lbs. The only repairs have been a set of brakes, tires and I just had to replace the spark plugs. Turbos are still working fine. I bought the truck for towing the fuel economy is a bonus. The key to towing is torque. The Eco boost doesn't work harder than a larger V8 because it has 420 ft/lbs at 2500 rpms. That's more torque than the 5.7 hemi and the 5.0 ford. Most of the time towing I am crusing around 75-80 at 1500, Pulling the trailer up from Georgia rt 81 with major hills we were crusing around 75 and never exceeded 3,000 rpm. With old Dakota with the V8 I had to take an alternate route because it couldn't take the hills. I am a little concerned about the new aluminum body and would wait to see how that plays out. But the drive train in this truck is awesome.

Nice thing about the Toyota is it has great resale value. My '02 with 85K miles has a value close to $17K if not more and people will be lining up for it.

I built a SuperCrew FX4 version on line, no leather or sunroof thank you, and got the price up to $46K. Now they are offering up to $8K in discounts and incentives. It's sounding better every day.
