In my research for the Spitfire Database, I learned that before those works Spits were shipped to the US , they did not have commission numbers.  Because of some arcane rules that required that the cars must have actual production commission numbers, the cars had commission plates pulled from the then current production.  But the cars were built much earlier than their commission numbers reflect.

Mike Cook had a nice article about the 1965 Spitfires being at Sebring. However, I think there was one innocent oversight in the reporting.

 

While the factory may have prepared the Spitfires, it was Kas who ran the team. Kas secured the drivers and was the Team Manager at Sebring.

 

If I am wrong about this, I can stand corrected by Mike and/or Kas.

 

I thought it was worthwhile mentioning. I did kind of a mental double take when I read the article.   BTW, Mike reports that he will be joining us at Summit Point. We are looking forward to seeing him there.
