But you can get it to do so by relieving (read that: "putting a big hole in")
the bellhousing. Steve Yott made a neat cover for the protruding shift rail
on mine to keep trans oil from leaking.

Prior to 1974 the three rail trans fits all. Then came the single rail with
different input shaft. The mount bolt pattern is the same but because of the
shift rail it won't bolt to the early bellhouseing.
