YES! The basis for a Great American Novel!

In '62 I slept along side my TD, not realizing I was between the highway and
the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, east of Denver. Sleep did not come easily
after that westbound train came through about 2:00am.

Speaking of costs....I was 300 miles from Road America and in 1966 it cost me
about $20 one weekend. $6.00 for gas, .50 a night in the campground across
from the track, .50 for a program, the gate entry, a little food, and some
beer.

The entire trip cost 800.00....My wife only had a learner's permit so she
learned to drive on the trip(she was 19 and I was 22). We would wash the car
with creek water..I fished wherever we went...caught plenty enough(that's how
God works)..The camp grounds were all free as I recall..and we were shocked
when we had to pay 2.00 for a campground somewhere in Florida along the Gulf
Coast..Things were so safe then that we actually slept on a lawn at a roadside
rest in Chicago. We had no credit cards or electronic transfers then, so on
the way back, when we ran out of money in Hot Sulpher Springs Colorado(it was
a little dirt road side stop) I got a job digging a sewer line..I made 33.00
which got us back to Oakland, Ca.

Bud, the first things that come to mind here: "WITNESS PROTECTION
PROGRAM", or the basis for a great book.

I traveled the entire USA in a Tr4 jam packed with stuff, and an Army
footlocker on the luggage rack ..My wife and I lived in a tent the entire
time..campground to campground..approx 5 months..Of course this was 1969!
